What is Signal Strength?

Signal Strength is a relative rating of how well an account, workspace, or user is doing within your product. What drives Signal Strength is chiefly product usage data (e.g. widgets created), but can technically be any numeric data point (e.g. % of quota usage). For each of your segments within Endgame (e.g. Free, Trial, Pro, Enterprise), you control what data points are considered, and by how much (the ‘boost’).

As an example, you might have a Trial segment (goal: convert to paid) with the following boosts:

  • 3x Boost – Widgets Created
  • 2x Boost – Pricing Page Views
  • 1x Boost – Tutorials Completed
  • 1x Boost – Users Invited

Then, you might configure a different set of boosts for your Pro segment (goal: adoption & upgrade to Enterprise):

  • 4x Boost – Quota Usage
  • 3x Boost – Integration Activity
  • 2x Boost – Advanced Feature Used
  • 1x Boost – Pricing Page Views

How to configure signal strength

  1. On the left sidebar of Endgame, click Segments.
  2. Click Configure Signals within the segment you’d like to configure.

  4. Fields listed here that have a “Tuning” are your current Signal Strength boosts for this segment. A few things to highlight here:
    1. Field – This is the data point label. Fields can come from any data source, including product usage data (e.g. Segment, Census, Hightouch), CRM data (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot), or data warehouse data.
    2. Signal – Fields with a Signal defined are configured to appear in your Endgame feed as well as Slack notifications. This is unrelated to Signal Strength calculation.
    3. Tuning – Fields with a Tuning (or “Boost”) defined are used to calculate Signal Strength. The higher the Tuning/Boost, the more heavily that data point is weighted.

  5. Let’s create a new boost. To do this, click + Add Signal at the bottom-left.

  7. Click the Field dropdown to browse available data points. You can also begin typing to filter the list. Select a field.

  9. To make this data point a boost, click Add Boost and select a weighting between 1 and 5.

  11. Notice the “User” label next to the name of this field. This means we are currently configuring a boost to user signal strength. Let’s change that. Click the gear icon and change Scope from User to Workspace.

Note, in your Endgame org, Workspace may have a different label to align with your product (e.g. Org, Account).

  13. Now click Done. You now have a new boost that is impacting Signal Strength calculation across workspaces. You can continue adding or editing fields within this interface.
